SAVANNAH - Penn Elton Myrick Jr., 70, General contractor and developer, went to be with his eternal Father on October 19, 2009. The Savannah native was a proud graduate of Benedictine Military Academy Class of 1957. Following graduation he joined the United States Coast Guard Reserves and then attended Armstrong College. Penn lived in Savannah until his career took him to Statesboro where he started his own commercial contracting business. He then moved to Tybee Island to develop and build condominiums. In the past year his work took him to Hitchcock, Texas where he remained until his final days. Over the years he enjoyed flying and was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol. Penn was a communicant of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and served on the Adjutant’s Staff for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Penn was a lively man who never met a stranger and loved to share a story. He was preceded in death by his father Penn Elton Myrick Sr., his mother Katherine Weimar Myrick, and infant sister Kathy Myrick. He is survived by his daughter, Sally Anne Myrick Deal, her husband Michael K. Deal and three grandsons, Coy, Bert and Jake Deal. He is also survived by two brothers Robert (Bud) Myrick, his wife Rosemary, William (Paul) Myrick, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 11 am. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with The Reverend Monsignor P. James Costigan officiant.
